Conclusion

Reflective essay: My teaching experience

As an English teacher it is so significant that my students have a good learning experience in which they learn while they also have a nice time. So then, I have tried to apply that approach during my teaching along my pedagogical experience along the live speaking sessions. Therefore, although the classes were not perfect, I consider that the outcome for the whole pedagogical experience makes me feel that I had a good performance with the students in the virtual environment of the classes. Being consequent with what I think were good classes, I had the chance to get very good comments from my groups of students so they highlighted aspects like the preparation of the class, the designed activities, my phonetic and intonation when speaking, my attitude, interest, commitment and attention I had to the students’ performance.

I have to recognize that sometimes I felt a little bit tense, considering among other things that it was my first experience teaching in online environments, nevertheless I did not feel nervous or unconfident and my students also had a great behavior and willingness which helped a lot to have a good performance.

I was a little worried because in order to have a good class, many things had to work out well such as the internet connection, the computer, the lesson plan, the materials and the teacher’s aptitude and attitude. However, dedicating a long time planning the live speaking sessions was probably the key to succeed as a teacher and most important, the key in order that students learn a lot and accomplish a good level of the English speaking skill.

In conclusion, I think that I could offer a very good online class experience to my students which makes me feel good about my performance as a teacher and that once again has given me reasons to teach English for a living. So, my best advice for other students is that they have to love what they do to be very good at it. Teaching English is not always easy to do but it is such a great thing to do and at the end of the day it could be so satisfying.
